Bridgeport Officers, K-9s Graduating From Patrol Dog Training

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Police Officers Marie Cetti and K-9 Uno and John Pachera and K-9 Caleb, both from the Bridgeport Police Department, are among those taking part in the graduation ceremony of the 177th Patrol Dog Training Troop.

The graduation will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Connecticut State Police Training Academy, 285 Preston Ave., Meriden.

The eight canine teams will work patrol duty and have been trained in the basic areas of tracking, handler protection, evidence recovery, building searches, obedience and classroom education. 

For the canines -- all German shepherds -- the graduation marks the culmination of a 14-week rigorous intense training course. 

The following students are also graduating in the 177th Patrol Dog class: 

  • Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Bruce Lachance and K-9 Tobi from Troop L, 
  • Trooper First Class Thomas Mitri and and K-9 Silver from Troop G in Bridgeport, 
  • Trooper First Class Kristen Coit and K-9 Nikko from Troop K, 
  • Trooper Ryan Burke and K-9 Cezar from Troop I,
  • Officer Justin Standish and K-9 Cody from the West Haven Police Department and 
  • Department of Correction Officer Dennis Hinkson and K-9 Ruckus
