"Very inspiring visit today with the future of Bridgeport's police department! This is one of the most diverse police recruit classes the city has ever seen," Ganim wrote in a Facebook post.

"It is a class that wants to form a positive relationship between the police department and our communities and neighborhoods. And after working out with the class at Seaside Park this morning I can say they are in great shape! We are very proud of you and thankful that you have chosen to serve your community and protect the city as law enforcement officers."
