Lorenzo Carter, 21, was sentenced in a New Haven Court Tuesday, Feb. 23, to 21 months behind bars, plus three years of supervised release.
According to Daly, Carter had been previously convicted of carrying a pistol without a permit and illegally receiving a pistol, both felonies.
He was arrested in Bridgeport last year after police found a .22 caliber handgun hidden on the tire of a car parked on Trumbull Avenue in the city, Daly said.
Daly did not describe the circumstances of that discovery by police, but said it is a violation of federal law for a convicted felon to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
Carter pleaded guilty to the latest charges last October, Daly said.
This matter was investigated by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Laraia.
