Latrel Baker, 20, of Burnsford Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with first-degree manslaughter early Tuesday morning, police said.
On April 27, police responded to St. Vincent’s Medical Center on a report of an assault. According to witnesses, Diaz, 26, was assaulted by several friends at Dewhirst and Baker streets and suffered an asthma attack, police said.
He was admitted to the hospital and died three days later.
A subsequent autopsy concluded that his death was directly related to the attack and was ruled a homicide, police said.

Additional arrests are expected soon.
