A World War II veteran, Kovacs became a toolmaker for the Bullard Company.
He was a bowler at Nutmeg Bowling Alley for more than 50 years, up to as recently as a few weeks ago, and was a president of his bowling league. He also loved to swim at the Eisenhower Senior Center.
Kovacs is survived by his sisters-in-law, Betty Soltis, Mary Yacko and Tessie Kovacs; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Yacko Kovacs; daughter Kathleen Kovacs; and parents Stephen and Elizabeth Evancho Kovacs.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann Church, 481 Brewster St., in the Black Rock Section of Bridgeport, with full military honors to directly follow. Interment will private.
