He was born in Greenville, N.C., Sept. 6, 1925. Barnes served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had been gainfully employed with Hartley & Parker Ltd. for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Mount Aery Baptist Church.
Barnes is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Emma Lee (Swinton) Barnes; daughters, Ann and Edith Barnes; grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.
There will be a service of celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport with the Rev. Dr. Anthony Bennett officiating. Interment immediately following in Veteran's Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, Conn. Friends may greet the family from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church. Arrrangements entrusted to Geo. J. Peterson FH., 1041 Noble Ave., Bridgeport.
