Campbell, the husband of Alice Fedak Campbell, was born and raised in Bridgeport. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was wounded in combat at Chosin Reservoir, Korea, and awarded the Purple Heart.
Campbell later worked for the Universal Thread Co, Raybestos Corp. and Hertz Rental Car Co. until his retirement.
He was a life member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post No. 1466, where he was a past commander and officer of the day, and also as a past commander and officer of the day for the Catholic War Veterans, State of Connecticut.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion and the Port 5 National Association of Naval Veterans. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann Church, where he helped as an usher.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his brothers, Edward Campbell of Stratford and Lawrence Campbell and his wife, Nancy, of Milford; a sister, Sadie Lumbra, of Vermont; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Ann Campbell; a sister, Doris Majoris; brothers Ronald Campbell and Richard Campbell Sr.; as well as a stepbrother, Arthur Rosseau.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church in Bridgeport, with burial to follow in St. John Cemetery in Monroe.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 6, from 4-7 p.m. at Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road., Fairfield Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic War Veterans.
