A service will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Golden Hill United Methodist Church, 210 Elm St., the story said. Then, from 1:30- 3:30 p.m., a program and reception will take place at the Geraldine Johnson School that was named in her honor, The Connecticut Post said.
Johnson died Saturday, Nov. 28 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center. A lifelong city resident, Johnson was considered a role model, becoming the city’s first black female principal, assistant superintendent and ultimately superintendent of schools, The Connecticut Post said.
