BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Mary Alice Tyler, 97, of Bridgeport, died Friday, May 15, at the Astoria Park Health Care Center in Bridgeport.
Born in Grenada, Miss., to Julius and Laura Mae Johnson, Tyler had been a resident of Bridgeport since 1953. She was very active in her church, the East End Baptist Tabernacle Church, where she was a member for the past 62 years and served as Sunday school teacher, psalmist, usher, assistant superintendent of Sunday school, missionary, chairperson of the deaconess ministry, mother of the church, senior choir, mass choir, gospel choir, combined choir and church bowling league.
She is survived by her sister,Linnie B. Shelby
Friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at East End Baptist Tabernacle Church, 548 Central Ave., Bridgeport. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
