She was born Sept. 15, 1931, in Beça Boticas, Portugal, the daughter of the late Damien and Ana Fernandes. She was a longtime resident of Bridgeport before moving to Cape Coral, Fla. She enjoyed the last years of her life near the beach, which she loved. She loved spending time with her family and friends, laughing, singing and dancing.
Survivors include her children, Leonore, and her husband, Jose Costa, of Shelton, Jorge Sanches of Cape Coral, Fla., Tina and her husband, Joe Woehrle, of Shelton, and Joey (Juice) Sanches and his wife, Grace, of Fairfield; grandchildren, Nicholas and Kaitlyn Costa, Matthew and Patrick Woehrle and Jonathan, Jeffrey and Jenna Sanches; brothers, Jose and Manuel Fernandes; sister, Irene Lage; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport. Friends are invited to attend the funeral at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
