Born in Padroso, Montalegre, Portugal, March 6, 1952, Ribas was a former president of the Vasco da Gama Club in Bridgeport, and was a retired employee for the City of Bridgeport.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia (Vilaverde) Ribas; his mother, Julia (Martins) Ribas; his children, Manuel Ribas, John Ribas and Cesar Ribas; his cherished sisters, Ana Maria Moura and husband Domingos, Helena Christina Vitorino and husband Joao, Lucilia Goncalves and husband Valdemar, Maria Joao Heller and husband Adam.
He was predeceased by his father, Jose Ribas.
Visitation is Monmday from 4-8 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 9 a.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
At 10 a.m. there will be a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Road, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, Conn..
