Jean Lena Horwath, 95, Of Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Jean Lena Horwath, 95, died Monday, April 27 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

She was born in Bridgeport on June 24, 1919, to Reginaldo and Maria Rosa Edo. As a young woman, she loved dancing at the Ritz Ballroom. She met her future husband, Frank Horwath, while both were employed at Bridgeport Brass Co. They married on April 7, 1945, then settled in New Jersey and raised two children. They returned to Bridgeport when they retired in 1982.

While living at Laurelwood Place on Norman Street for 32 years, she was the recipient of several Resident of the Year awards. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Augustine's Cathedral for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Joseph) Bohnak of Maitland, Fla.; son Stephen (Joan) Horwath of Hillsboro, Ore.; a granddaughter of Seattle, Wash.; a grandson of Albuquerque, N.M.; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ralph and Salvatore Edo of Milford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and five siblings.

There will be no visitation. Services and interment will be held at a future date.
