David Poppa, 55, Of Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – David Anthony Poppa, 55, died Friday, Feb. 20.

Poppa was born Sept. 23, 1959, in Bridgeport, to Fedele and Frances (Mikulka) Poppa. and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. He graduated in 1979 from Harding High School.

He worked in security for UPS in Stratford.

He enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley and Tom Jones, and was an avid sports fan of baseball, wrestling, hockey and auto racing. He loved life, loved to cook and laugh, and joke with friends and family. His passion was taking care of his cat and his favorite dog, Boy, when he wasn't working or tinkering and fixing anything electronic.

He is survived by his mother, Frances (Mikulka) Poppa, five brothers, Leonard F. Poppa of Bridgeport; John Poppa Sr. and his wife, Denise of Bridgeport; Joseph Poppa of Bridgeport; Daniel Poppa and his wife, Domenica, of Naugatuck, Conn.; and Lawrence Poppa of Stratford, Conn.; sisters Frances Velez and her husband, Jorge Sr., of Bridgeport; Theresa Stabell and her husband, Raymond Sr., of Georgia; and Mary Poppa of Bridgeport.

He was predeceased by his father, a brother and two sisters.

There will be a memorial Mass celebrated on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly at St, James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford, Conn.

Interment and all other services will be private.
