BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Cecile T. Chacho, a former Bridgeport resident, died Dec. 18. She was 91.
She was born on March 7, 1924 and raised in Berlin, N.H., by her entrepreneur parents George and Rosanne Gregoire.
She moved to Bridgeport in 1942 to work as "Rosy the Riveter" in the Tool Room at Bridgeport Brass Co. She held that position three years, living with six other girls on East Main Street.
After World War II, she married Andrew Chacho and moved to Monroe in August 1947. They resided on the Chacho family farm, which is known today as Wolfe Park. Together, they built their lifelong residence on Cross Hill from scratch, including milling their own lumber.
She worked at Monroe Elementary School, while raising her son, Garry, and helping to raise her sister's daughter, Linda.
She was an active member of the Long Hill Duck Pin bowling club, the Sikorsky Flying Squares and the Monroe Pinochle Club.
In her retirement, she joined the Monroe Seniors and enjoyed extensive travel, including attending the Rose Bowl Parade.
She is survived by her husband Andrew of 68 years; her son Garry his wife Robin; her identical twin Jeannette Spiett; and Jeanette's daughter Linda Krisko, her husband Albert and daughter Amanda.
