Ruth, daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Spevack, was born in Brooklyn, NY, and was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Dr. Abraham Kobren and son Robert. Mrs. Kobren is survived by her children, Susan Morrison and her husband, Dr. Murray Morrison; Dr. Leonard Kobren and his wife Barbara; Roberta Simon and her husband Mark; her grandchildren, Jennifer Kanfer, Sarah Kleinhandler, Adam Kobren, Benjamin Kobren, Lauren Simon O’Brien and by her eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Rebecca, Abbe, Lila, Samuel, Zeke, Sadie and Lucy.

She was a woman of the "Greatest Generation." Ruth was raised in Carlstadt, NJ, and graduated from Douglass College (Rutgers University) in 1941. She married and supported her husband's service in World War II and after the war, helped him forge a successful dental career in White Plains, NY, while raising their three children.

She was active in the White Plains community becoming a committed volunteer at the White Plains Hospital as director of their gift shop. Her passion for helping others was highlighted by decades of her work with Hadassah, serving as the president of the White Plains Chapter.

After her husband retired as Dean of Admissions at NYU School of Dentistry, they moved to Bridgeport, where she continued to support Hadassah for many years.

Ruth was an extraordinary woman — loving wife, devoted mother, and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a kind, caring, and compassionate woman who touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral services were held on Friday July 24 at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of Hadassah.
