What Would You Do? Others Watched As Connecticut Man Was Slain On Train

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Kevin J. Sutherland, a 24-year-old Trumbull native, was stabbed to death on a subway train at midday on July 4th in Washington, D.C., as about a dozen others watched in horror.

But not one passenger confronted the attacker, who punched, stabbed 30 or 40 times, and kicked Sutherland, according to police documents and the Washington Post.

Jasper Spires, 18, has been charged with homicide in the brutal stabbing death. Police believe Spires, who is 5-foot-5 and weighs 125 pounds, was on drugs when he committed the crime, the Post said.
