U.B. Men squeak past Post by two

Waterbury - The University of Bridgeport men’s basketball team raised its overall record to 2-1 with an 87-85 road win over the host Eagles of Post University on Saturday afternoon. The Purple Knights raced out to 20-4 lead and only trailed 2-0 on the day. With the loss, Post is now 1-2 on the year.

Newcomer Ernest Rouse(Soph., Freeport, N.Y.) had a double-double for UB with 16 points and 10rebounds. Rouse was joined in double-digit scoring by four teammates as senior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all scorers in the game with 25 points plus juniorAntoine Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) each chipped in 14 points and seniorOgnjen Zoric(Subotica, Serbia) added 10 points.

UB led 50-38 at halftime and never trailed in the final 20 minutes, although Post did battle back to cut the Bridgeport lead to only one, 77-76, with 3:26 to play, and the Eagles had a chance to win with a three-pointer at the buzzer but that shot missed.

Up next, the Bridgeport men will host American International College on Wednesday evening, November 20 in Hubbell Gym. Action is set to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
