Thunderstorms Could Produce Heavy Rainfall In Bridgeport

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A cold front is expected to move through Fairfield County on Thursday, bringing with it rain that could be heavy at times and increasing winds, according to forecasters.

The National Weather Service warns that the chance for rainfall will increase throughout the day.

The chance of precipitation is 90 percent Thursday, with high temperatures of about 55 to 60 degrees. Southeast winds will pick up to 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. A quarter to a half-inch of rain is possible during the day.

By Thursday night, showers will pick up with a thunderstorm possible overnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall of up to an inch or more. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s overnight with. southeast winds of 7 to 15 mph.

Drier air is anticipated Friday, bringing in a clear, cooler day with highs in the low 50s.

The weekend should be sunny, with high temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s.
