The annual Holiday Express Train Show rolls back into the Museum beginning December 6th, with a month full of fun family events planned for kids young and old! Come see the trains in action, enjoy story times, take part in a candy house or model train workshop, or see a real steam model train demonstration. Click here for more information. Wakeman: The First 100 Years November 23, 2013 - January 5, 2014 Take a photographic trip down Memory Lane, Wakeman style! The exhibit follows the evolution of Wakeman Boys & Girls Club from one building in Southport that served 50 boys in 1913 to three clubhouses in Southport, Fairfield, and Bridgeport. The exhibit highlights some of Wakeman's most recognizable leaders and defining moments.Opened in 1913, Wakeman Boys & Girls Club is celebrating its 100th Anniversary throughout this year. Wakeman currently serves 4,200 children from Fairfield and Bridgeport at the Southport and Stratfield Clubhouses in Fairfield and the Smilow-Burroughs Clubhouse in Bridgeport. Wakeman's Outreach Program at McKinley Elementary School is in its ninth year of providing an award-winning mentoring program for McKinley students. Come celebrate the holidays with Miss Annie of Great Beginnings Montessori School. While we are together, we will explore the meaning of the holidays, as they relate to our children. By doing so, we help them to appreciate those around them, family, community and subsequently, the world at large. During each session, we will read about the holiday, where it originated andcreate a unique craft for the day.
