In October 2014, the National Transportation Safety Board released documents stating Rockefeller had exceeded the speed limit at least 14 times in the week previous to the train derailment, which occurred in the Bronx, killing four people and injuring more than 70, reported nbcnewyork.com.

?The derailment happened after Rockefeller began nodding off and took a 30-mph curve at 82 mph, but the cause of his sleepiness was said to be an undiagnosed sleep apnea, as well as a shift in his work schedule, reported nbcnewyork.
