The May 6 new moon guarantees darkness ideal for viewing the most Eta Aquarid meteors, especially in the predawn period, Earthsky.org said.
Skygazers do not need special equipment to view the shower, which will come in spurts in the early morning hours before twilight, reported Earthsky.org.
