The state has now laid off 477 workers as it continues to cut costs due to a $922 million budget shortfall in the next fiscal year, the Post said.

The UConn Health Center employees all worked for the state Department of Correction’s inmate medical-care program, the Post said.

Gov. Dannel Malloy has said that the state is looking to lay off nearly 2,000 workers because of the budget shortfall.
