Tyeshon King was indicted on one count of possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon, U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly announced Friday.
The indictment was returned July 12, and King was arrested the next day.
O(n March 24, King possessed a Taurus 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a Taurus .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, and 28 rounds of assorted .40-caliber ammunition, all of which were manufactured out of state, the indictment said.
Also, King was convicted in May in state court of first-degree attempted assault.
It is a violation of federal law for a person previously convicted of a felony offense to possess a firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
The charge carries a maximum term of 10 years in prison.
King has been detained since his arrest on July 13.
