Fatal Crash Leads To Hours-Long Closure Of I-84 In New York

ORANGE COUNTY, N.Y. — A stretch of westbound I-84 was closed for nearly six hours Wednesday after a fatal, multi-vehicle crash in Montgomery, according to New York State Police.

Two tractor-trailers and four cars were involved in the crash, which occurred at about 12:35 p.m. The crash was in the vicinity of Stewart International Airport on the west side of the Hudson River.

The identity of the person killed in the crash had not been released by Wednesday evening. Multiple injuries were reported.

All westbound lanes had reopened by 7:30 p.m. One lane had reopened at at about 6 p.m. 

Two helicopters were seen in the area immediately after the crash, which was between Exit 5A for Drury Lane/Route 54 and Exit 5 for Route 208 in Orange County.
