Caitlin Nelson, a 20-year-old junior at Sacred Heart University died last Sunday after she had choked days earlier during a pancake-eating contest on the Fairfield campus. The entire SHU community mourned the death of Nelson, the daughter of a Port Authority policeman who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on the World Trade Center. The medical examiner ruled that her death was due to asphyxia. Her family donated her organs before she was laid to rest in her native New Jersey.  

Tracey Edwards, 44, a Bridgeport man with a lengthy criminal history, is facing charges in two towns after two unusual events. Edwards was arrested Wednesday and charged with attacking Westport police officers after speeding through the center of town and crashing near the Saugatuck River. He had been arrested last weekend after Fairfield Police said he caused a scene at a Mercedes dealership while on PCP.

Maria Shanley, a Bethel mother who lost her 17-year-old son Michael two years ago to sudden cardiac arrest, is working to raise awareness to prevent the death of other teenagers. It is the top medical cause of death in young athletes. 

Roshara Sanders of Bridgeport is living her dream as a chef. But she had to fight to get there, from growing up in public housing to a stint in the Army before attending the Culinary Institute of America. In 2015, she competed on “Chopped,” where she won the $10,000 prize and donated her winnings to No Kid Hungry. Today, Sanders is the sous chef at Compass Group Flik Hospitality in Bridgeport. Click here to see her story on YouTube. 

After 37 years, Bobby V's Restaurant & Sports Bar closed up its original location in Stamford after the NCAA championship basketball game Monday. But don't despair: Bobby V's is moving to a new location just around the corner on Atlantic Street this summer. 

Entrepreneur Andrea Gartner is getting ready to open her new concept eatery in downtown Danbury dubbed the Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe. When it opens next month, it will specialize in fast-fine food — and serve up coffee and wine.

A tractor-trailer went down an embankment on I-95 in Fairfield on Friday afternoon, causing lengthy delays. It took hours to clear, but no serious injuries were reported. 

The Fairfield community mourned the death of Susan Ei, the beloved children's librarian at the Pequot Library for the past 12 years who known for her "reading ambassador bunnies," who died at the age 64.

On a very rainy Tuesday morning, Stratford firefighters wearing cold water suits came to the rescue of two drivers in flooded roadways. A handicapped man's car became stuck in floodwaters under a railroad underpass on Bruce Avenue and another driver was stranded in deep water at the Surf Avenue underpass at I-95.

A commuter was shocked to hop off the train and find the two passenger doors missing from his Honda Accord in the parking lot at the Wilton train station, police said.

Three juveniles jumped into a car that was left running in the driveway of a Danbury home, then threatened the owner with a knife, police said. The three fled in the car and eluded a police chase, but were captured later near the PAL Building, police said. 

19-year-old Ryan Fetchick was killed by his own car in a driveway accident, police said. The accident occurred at his home on Indian Hill Road in Sandy Hook when the car Fetchick was working on rolled off the jack and onto him, police said.

Two juveniles were arrested after a group of teens broke into a Rowayton home in the middle of the night to take a set of keys and then steal a Mercedes-Benz, Norwalk police said.

A two-alarm fire in the sauna has closed down the Italian Center of Stamford until further notice until repairs are made. It took 40 firefighters to douse the blaze in the landmark community building.
