Covid-19: Bridgeport Orders Indefinite Postponement Of Public Events Under Rollback To Phase 2

The city made the announcement on Monday, Nov. 2, that all public events planned by outside agencies, organizations or individuals to be hosted on city property will be postponed until further notice to ensure the public health and welfare of the community. 

The city said it made the decision in a continued public safety effort to take precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19.

Phase 2 rules include:

  • No indoor waiting rooms (restaurants, personal services, etc.) as well as up to 50% capacity indoors with 6 ft. spacing
  • Businesses should utilize callback methods and curbside, drive-thru, pick up, and deliveries.
  • Businesses open to the public must ask patrons if they are COVID-19 symptom-free and require the use of a mask and provide sanitizer.
  • Gyms and sports clubs must demonstrate the ability to sanitize all “high use” touchpoints after every class or hourly.
  • Municipal buildings and offices are to remain closed to the public except by appointment.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 reported cases of COVID-19 in Bridgeport according to state data.
