Route 130 will be closed from 9 p.m. Fridays to 6 a.m. Sundays. The closure will be repeated every weekend thereafter until the end of December, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced.
The road closure is required to complete the final lowering of Fairfield Avenue, which will be performed in stages.
Signs will be in place to direct traffic around the closure. Here is detour information:
- Cars will use Pine Street, Bostwick Avenue and State Street.
- Truck traffic will use Pine Street, Wordin Avenue and State Street.
A temporary sidewalk will be in place for pedestrian access.
The work is part of a project to overhaul the overhead catenary wire system and to replace five bridges on the New Haven Line of Metro-North between Bridgeport and Fairfield.
The contract was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington in April 2007. The project should be completed in December.
