Bridgeport Ranks Among Nation's Most Diverse Cities

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- In honor of Black History Month, financial social media website WalletHub has named the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in the nation -- and several Connecticut municipalities made the list, including Bridgeport, which came in at No. 25.

In order to identify the most ethno-racially and linguistically diverse landscapes among 350 of the most populated U.S. cities, WalletHub examined each city across three key metrics, including racial and ethnic diversity, language diversity and region of birth diversity.

Bridgeport was tied for the 25th spot with Yonkers, N.Y. It ranked 39th overall for racial and ethnic diversity; 31st overall for language diversity and 66th for region of birth. 

The most diverse city in the nation, according to WalletHub, is Jersey City, N.J. 

Billings, Mont. came in as the least diverse at No. 350.

Here is how other municipalities in the Nutmeg State fared, along with rankings:

  • No.38: Stamford 
  • No. 55: Hartford 
  • No. 59: New Haven 
  • No. 78: Waterbury
