Bridgeport Residents Criticize UI's Plans To Cut Down Trees

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A meeting set up by state Rep. Steve Stafstrom (D-Bridgeport) and City Councilman Enrique Torres allowed residents to voice their concerns with United Illuminating Co. on Tuesday, April 7, at the Black Rock Library.

Residents said UI was pressuring people into consenting to allow the utility company to cut down healthy trees.

Concerns were also voiced that focused on what was described as UI's destruction of the aesthetics of the neighborhood.

The Bridgeport Tree Warden was not in attendance, and his lack of attendance was also a subject of criticism.
