Bridgeport Ranks High Among Fastest-Growing Cities

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Four Connecitcut cities were ranked among the fastest growing in the United States by WalletHub.

WalletHub first broke the cities surveyed into three groups: large (more than 300,000 population), midsize (100,000-300,000) and small (less than 100,000)

Then each city was graded on 10 metrics: 

  • Population Growth
  • Working-Aged Population Growth (measures growth of population between ages 16 and 64):
  • Educational Attainment Growth (measures growth of the percentage of people with at least a bachelor’s degree or higher)
  • Uninsured Rate Decrease
  • Median Household Income Growth
  • Unemployment Rate Decrease
  • Job Growth
  • Poverty Rate Decrease
  • Ratio of Full-Time to Part-Time Jobs Increase
  • Growth of Regional GDP per Capita

Bridgeport was ranked 53rd among all cities and 27th among midsize municipalities. 

Norwalk ranked 204th overall and 73rd among small cities. 

Danbury also made the list at 374 overall and 133rd in the small city category.

Stamford ranked 478 out of 516 cities overall and 204 among midsize cities.

Mission, Texas, took the top overall spot while Sunrise, Nev., was last at 516.
