BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A raccoon that bit a Bridgeport man last month has tested positive for rabies, according to the Connecticut Post.
The raccoon bit a man on Summerfield Avenue, the Post said.
Tests on the animal confirmed a positive diagnosis for rabies, and the bite victim was notified and treated with the rabies vaccine, the Connecticut Post said.
Rabies is a potentially fatal viral disease that causes madness and convulsions in animals, and can be transferred to humans via bites.
