Located in Hartford County, and only open for about a month, Villa Mulino in Avon is the spot you are searching for.

Instead of the traditional, think grilled octopus, roasted duck breast, filet mignon with braised beets, and scallops, all with an Italian flair.

Located in the Riverdale Farms Plaza, all dishes are scratch-made with locally sourced ingredients.

Here's what Yelper Katherine D. had to say about Villa Mulino: "My husband and I went for our anniversary dinner last night and LOVED the experience. The ambiance is classy and edgy, the music was fun, and the food was delicious!"

Besides the inventive menu, the restaurant also offers craft cocktails, along with all the favorites.

According to local foodies and Yelpers, the interior is high-end with a modern flair that includes comfortable chairs, and mirrors, that create an intimate atmosphere. It was designed by Agnes Salja of Paris, who has worked for such high-end firms as Chanel.

The restaurant says on its website that it offers an "extraordinary and sophisticated dining experience."

Some favorites of online reviewers include mussels, tuna tartare, chicken Milanese special, salmon with risotto, and the branzino (which is a whole fish!).

Other items receiving top marks include the grilled octopus and the arancini.

The restaurant also offers an extensive wine list.

Reviewers also praised the service and the generous cocktails.

Most praised the restaurant with five-star reviews.

Prices are medium to high. Reservations are a good idea to avoid a wait.
