The Fairfield Avenue theater was closed for a time, but new General Manager Gary Peterson will welcome back the theater company for its sophomore season this year.
“The Bijou Theatre is a very special place and I am thrilled to be able to bring our work and our theater family back to Bridgeport,” said Vagabond co-founder and co-artistic director Tanya Feduik-Smith.
“The attraction of the Bijou is infectious. Magic happens there!”
Fairfield native Joe Landry adapted “It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Show” from the classic Frank Capra film. It will be directed by VTC co-founder and co-artistic director John Smith, Jr.
The unique take on the beloved tale shifts the action from the silver screen to the WBFR radio studios on Christmas Eve 1946. A handful of actors are at the mics, performing dozens of characters for a live audience.
The play premiered in 1996 at Stamford Center for the Arts and has been produced around the country.
The VTC cast features Juan Ayala, Betzabeth Castro, John Lizsewski, Rachel Schultz and Ian Smith, with Ainsley Andrade as the foley artists.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” runs Dec. 15 through 17. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.BijuoTheatreCT.com.
