Bridgeport Dog Owners Beware: FDA Recalls Rawhide Chew Products

Dog owners in Fairfield County should check their shelves: Multiple brands of United Pet Group rawhide dog chew products have been recalled due to a possible chemical contamination.

The company, a division of Spectrum Brands Inc., found that some of its rawhide chew manufacturing facilities located in Mexico and Colombia, as well as one of its suppliers in Brazil, were using a quaternary ammonium compound mixture as a processing aid in the manufacturing of rawhide chews. 

Brands include:
  • American Beefhide
  • Digest-eeze
  • Healthy Hide (including Healthy Hide – Good -n- Fun and Healthy Hide – Good -n- Fit) 
The recall was made the the FDA.
