Peter Bienasz, of Plainville in Hartford County, was riding behind a Toyota Prius on Route 72 near the I-84 on-ramp, when he crashed into the back of the car, causing him to slam into a metal guardrail around 12:14 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, Connecticut State Police said. He was tossed from his bike and died at the scene.
Memorials poured in on social media as word of his death spread.
"Fly high Peter, another life gone too soon," Natalia Galarza posted. "My condolences to the Bienasz family. He was a good guy, who created many good memories for tons of people in Plainville. He will be missed. Fly high dude, LLPB. Once a blue devil always a blue devil, class of 2019💙"
Bienasz graduated from Plainville High School.
Several posters, like Taylor Therrien, mentioned his sense of humor and adventurous spirit.

"Rest in peace to a beautiful, goofy, great soul," Karolina Swinicki posted. "Condolences to all of Peter’s family, friends, and anyone who knew him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers."
Funeral details were not available Friday evening, Oct. 25.
