Mendelssohn Choir To Kick Off 31st Season With Bridgeport Concert

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. -- The Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut will kick off its 31st season on Saturday, Dec. 12, with a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Bridgeport.

The choir will be performing with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, directed by Eric Jacobsen, and the Fairfield University Chamber Singers at the Klein Memorial Auditorium.

The concert starts at 8 p.m.

The choir itself is guided by Carole Ann Maxwell, DSM, its founder and artistic director.

On Saturday, Jan. 23, the MCC will present “Heroic Haydn” at Fairfield University’s Quick Center for the Arts. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

The Haydn program will include Missa Cellensius; Te Deum in C, featuring the Festival Orchestra and tenor Drew Seigla.

The final program of MCC’s 2015-16 season will be “Poetry in Motion” -- featuring simple, provocative, and intriguing text from luminaries throughout the ages -- on Saturday, May 14, at 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in New Canaan.
