Kelly Willis, called by NPR alternative countrys golden goddess has teamed with her husband, Bruce Robison, writer of country hits, including #1 hits Wrapped (George Strait), Angry all the Time (McGraw & Hill) and Travelin Soldier (Dixie Chicks) to produce The Bruce and Kelly Show which will be presented by CHIRP on Tuesday, June 10. This concert is very generously underwritten by John Katz, a fan of country music and is the third in a series of twenty-three free concerts to be presented on Tuesday evenings in June and Tuesdays and Thursdays in July and August.
Between Willis and Robison they have released fourteen albums over the years. . Last year they came out with their first full album collaboration called Cheaters Game. It ranked No.1 on the Americana Charts for twelve weeks and also garnered them the nominations for Album of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year from the Americana Music Association. Their second, Our Year was just released May 31 and while this one includes a number of originals, it also includes some classic country covers such as T Bone Burnetts Shake Yourself Loose, Walter Hyatts Motor City Man, and most famously Tom T. Halls Harper Valley PTA. Theyll be singing these and many of their originals when they perform backed by a trio, Tuesday at 7:00 P.M.
