Women Build is a program designed to recruit, educate and empower women to break stereotypes, build and advocate for affordable housing in Fairfield County.
The goal of this event is to raise $50,000 for Women Build. Habitat CFC builds 12 to 14 homes each year and has provided more than 1,000 family members with a safe, affordable place to live. The Women Build team recently completed its 11th home in Fairfield County and will break ground on a new home this summer.
“We’re so excited to be holding this unique event that encourages women to be engaged with each other and Habitat for Humanity,” said Andrea Stone, Women Build committee chair. “This is a great opportunity for women of all skill levels to come together to help a family in need of better housing.”
Teams of four women are encouraged to register before the event sells out. There is no cost for the participants, but team members are encouraged to solicit friends, family, colleagues and others to “sponsor” their participation.
“This is not only a great opportunity to network and make new friends, but also to help build a home for a hard-working single mom and her children,” said Eileen Bakos, manager of volunteer services at Habitat CFC.
Spectators (including men) are welcome to purchase tickets for $25 online or $35 at the door. There will be prizes for the best team name and best costume, as well as appetizers and cocktails for all contestants and spectators.
