Fireworks, Parade And More Close Out Barnum Festival In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The Barnum Festival concludes its month-long run with a series of fun-filled and free events this weekend.

The events include:

  • Saturday and Sunday: Barnumpalooza, with food, drinks and music at Seaside Park in Bridgeport. It begins at 11 a.m. on both days.
  • Saturday: Pops Concert at Seaside Park, beginning at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: Fireworks at Seaside Park, beginning shortly after the concert.
  • Sunday: The Great Street Parade, which begins at noon. The new parade route starts at the intersection of Park and Capitol Avenues, travels south on Park Avenue and ends in Seaside Park.

All of the events are free. The Barnum Festival was founded in 1949 to build community spirit in the region and to pay homage to P.T. Barnum - showman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
