Bridgeport Shows Its Creative Side With Annual Art Trail

BRIDGEPORT, Conn -- The sixth annual Bridgeport Art Trail, a virtual (and free!) citywide studio tour, will run from Thursday, Nov.13, to Sunday, Nov.16, under the theme "View Art. Talk Art. Buy Art."

New this year: A "Party with the Artists" Happy Hour Kick-Off from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at McLevy Hall, where guests are invited to view a sampling of works, tour the historic building (President Lincoln spoke here!) and meet the artists and entrepreneurs who call the space home. There will be light refreshments and music courtesy of WPKN-FM, 89.5 on the radio.

Also on the agenda: 

  • Read’s Artspace will host its annual Artists Choose Artists exhibition Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. in its spacious Ground Floor Gallery, a private art space located in what was once Read’s department store. 
  • Connecticut-themed photography led by sisters Julia-Rose and Eve Liptak showcases everyday images in a unique print process, i.e. the multifaceted landscape of Metro-North Railroad’s iconic New Haven Line, the ever-changing beauty of Fairfield County and more at "Your Stop. Your Scene" at the Barnum Publick House on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Gallery@999 offers a new perspective viewing the art chosen for the Kennedy Center Calendar, along with 75 original paintings created by artists in the expressive arts programs. The daylong showcase will be held Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • JUDAICA, Now at City Lights Gallery, on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.: A group exhibit featuring work based on Jewish art, religion, culture and history, including a range of art forms and expressions.
  • Portrait Painting Demo with Jesús Villarreal: Witness the process as Villarreal paints along with his students during a portrait painting workshop in his studio. Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Admission to all events are open to the public at no cost; however, donations are welcome at the door. Contributions support Bridgeport Art Trail free public programs.Go here for more information.
