Barnum Sails The Sound Departs Saturday In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- One of the Barnum Festival’s most popular events sets sail Saturday on Long Island Sound.

Barnum Sails the Sound begins with waterfront dining at 5 p.m. at the Bridgeport/Port Jefferson Ferry dock. After a the dockside dinner, guests board the P.T. Barnum, the pride of the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, for a night on the Sound. The $50 fee includes dinner, dancing, two drinks on the ferry and two walk-on ferry tickets valid through Dec. 31, 2016.

Music for the Ferry trip, which lasts until 10 p.m., will be provided by the WhatUp Funk Band.

The Barnum Festival was founded in 1949 to build community spirit in the region and to pay homage to P.T. Barnum - showman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
