After several large food poisoning outbreaks linked to its restaurants last year, Chipotle is closing all of its stores from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to talk to employees about food safety.

In Fairfield County, Chipotle restaurants can be found in Bridgeport, Danbury, Fairfield, Shelton, and Westport, with two in Darien and three in Greenwich.

Six outbreaks affecting hundreds of people were tied to Chipotle last year that involved norovirus, E. coli and salmonella, the Chicago Tribune reported. Those outbreaks occurred in Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, Kansas, North Dakota and Oklahoma, the Tribune said.

The company's sales slid 30 percent and its stock price plummeted nearly 40 percent after the outbreaks, the Tribune said.

Chipotle hired a food safety expert, changed its food handling practices and has started testing produce before shipping to stores, the Tribune said.
