The 78-year-old man was working outside his residence in Upper Milford Township when the limb fell and struck him in the head, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio.
He was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency department at 4:44 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23.
An autopsy determined that he died from blunt force trauma to the head. His death was ruled accidental, Buglio said.
The man's identity is being withheld at this time to give his family an opportunity to grieve privately, according to the coroner.
Additional details about what the man was doing when the limb fell were not immediately released.
