The incident happened on Friday, May 15, when troopers responded at around 5 p.m. to a home on Holsapple Road in Dover for a reported disturbance, New York State Police announced on Tuesday, May 19.
An investigation later determined that Todd Tripp, 37, and a 65-year-old man became involved in a verbal altercation over a property line dispute.
During the confrontation, police said Tripp raised a string trimmer and struck the victim, causing multiple cuts to the man’s face and arm, as well as swelling to one of his eyes.
The victim was taken to Danbury Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Tripp was charged with second-degree assault, a felony.
He was arraigned in Dover Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on June 16 at 4 p.m.
