Scenes for the show’s fourth season will be filmed in Troy on June 9-10, and Grant Wilfrey Casting is looking for men and women from Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and surrounding areas to fill in grand ballrooms, busting streets, and other extravagant scenes.
Filming in Troy could extend well beyond the two tentative dates, Mayor Carmella Montello told the Albany Times-Union, adding she's been told to expect more than two days.
“The Gilded Age” is set in 1880s high society and chronicles the struggles between “old money” aristocrats and “new money” robber barons. Background actors will be dressed up in period-appropriate attire and must have no visible tattoos or piercings, according to the casting call.
All those cast must be comfortable having their hair and facial hair altered into 1880s-appropriate styles. Men are requested to submit their height and weight, along with neck, sleeve, waist, inseam, and shoe sizes. Women are asked to share their height, weight, bust, waist, hip, and shoe measurements.
Extras will be paid $187 for an estimated 10 hours of work, plus $46.75 for a pre-appearance costume fitting. It’s a slight bump in pay from rates for season three extras in the region last year.
Anyone hoping to land a role can apply through Backstage or directly through Grant Wilfrey’s website.
