Tesfa Tucker, a 42-year-old Lindenhurst resident, was arraigned Tuesday, March 3, on several counts, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.

Tucker attacked an unidentified 27-year-old man on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at an apartment complex in Lindenhurst, according to investigators. He struck the man multiple times with a large knife and a metal knuckle handle (often called “brass knuckles”), prosecutors said.

The victim suffered multiple skull fractures, lacerations to his head and neck and two severed fingers, according to authorities. He was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital and survived.

“The defendant’s alleged anger and lack of self-control left the victim in a pool of blood fighting for his life,” District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

One witness heard Tucker yelling at the victim during the attack, while another witness saw Tucker strike the victim multiple times, prosecutors said. Cops searched Tucker’s apartment and found the large knife and metal knuckles stained with blood, authorities said.

Tucker was charged with second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and third-degree weapons possession. He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court April 16. He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted of attempted murder.
