The 16-year-old victim was approached by a group at Central Avenue and Union Street at approximately 3 p.m., sources in law enforcement tell Daily Voice. One or multiple suspects stabbed the teen with a "weapon with a sharp blade," sources said.

Then, Hackensack police found the teen with injuries at Banta Place and State Street, according to Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer. The victim was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition.

Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and launched a joint investigation with the Hackensack Police Department, Angermeyer said. Members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist, according to Angermeyer.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released when it becomes available, authorities said.
