Long Island prosecutors are asking the public to help identify the remains of two women whose cold case murders date back to the 1980s and 1990s.

In recognition of National Missing Persons Day on Tuesday, Feb. 3, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office released new details and updated renderings in hopes of finally learning their names.

Tierney urged residents to review the materials closely, saying even small details could prove critical.

“We are asking the public to take a moment to read the information available and to look at these new renderings of the victims. We believe someone must know something,” said Tierney. “Even a minor detail could help bring answers to families who have been waiting for far too long.”

Medford Jane Doe

Medford Jane Doe was found dismembered on Dec. 7, 1994, inside a blue Rubbermaid garbage can left along a roadside in Medford, prosecutors said. She was later identified as a victim of serial killer Robert Shulman.

The woman was white, between 20 and 30 years old, about 5 feet 1 inch tall, and weighed roughly 135 pounds. She had a tattoo on her upper left shoulder bearing the name “Adrian.”

Recent genetic genealogy analysis revealed the victim had Western European ancestry, with at least 75 percent traced to England, Scotland, and Wales, prosecutors said. The Cold Case Task Force released a clay facial reconstruction, an updated composite sketch, and a revised depiction of the tattoo as it likely appeared before her death.

Bellport Jane Doe

Bellport Jane Doe was living on Michigan Avenue in Bellport in 1983 when she was murdered by her landlord, Arthur Kinlaw, according to prosecutors.

The woman was known to some as Marie or Maria, investigators said. She was described as a Black or Hispanic woman weighing approximately 300 pounds who used a walker due to a shattered femur. An updated composite sketch showing how she may have appeared before her death has now been released by the Cold Case Task Force.
