Rolling Spring Roll has closed its Commack location, Newsday reported Tuesday, July 28.
Started by Joe Bui as a food truck in 2012, Rolling Spring Roll eventually expanded to three locations by 2023, with one in Syosset, one in Commack, and one in Farmingdale.
But one year later, Bui closed the Farmingdale location and has now followed suit in Commack. The Syosset location, always the largest, is now the only Rolling Spring Roll open on Long Island.
Bui told Newsday the biggest factors were increased costs for ingredients and labor, pointing out that pho bowls that used to be $8 now go for $18 — closely following the minimum wage increase in that time.
He said in 2024 that the Farmingdale location was shut down because he was stretched too thin and had trouble staffing all three restaurants.
