Louis Brown was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of 69-year-old Darlene Brown, both of Jackson Township, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.
At 7 a.m. Jackson Township police responded to a home on Justin Way after receiving a 911 call reporting that someone had been murdered, Billhimer said.
Responding officers found Louis Brown standing in the front doorway of the residence, Billhimer said. Brown exited the home with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody while officers investigated, Billhimer said
Police entered the residence and found Darlene Brown dead in an upstairs bedroom with apparent stab wounds to her face and neck, Billhimer said. Officers also observed two knives protruding from the victim, Billhimer said.
Investigators later determined Louis Brown made the 911 call and was responsible for his grandmother’s death, Billhimer said.
Brown was taken to the Ocean County Jail, where he remains lodged pending a detention hearing, Billhimer said.
